Thermatex makes a return at Burghley Horse Trials

We can’t believe a whole week has passed since we re-launched Thermatex. With our new base in Northamptonshire, it made sense to launch at Burghley Horse Trials, as it’s just a short 25-minute journey away from the factory. It was too last-minute for a stand, so we got our thinking caps on and thought, how do we show people that the rugs haven’t changed at all, we’re back, and everything is still made in England, without actually selling the rugs at the event?

No to a pony

Well, our original idea of taking a Shetland Pony got a big fat no from the Press Officer, so we quickly adapted and went for a bigger but more acceptable option in the form of Nibbles, the Irish Wolfhound. Nibbles, having kindly been lent to us for the day by an equine vet called Lucinda, stepped into the role well and proudly paraded his 3’6" pony rug around Burghley on the Friday, to the glee of many Thermatex fans. It was lovely to meet so many of you and hear stories of your rugs “that have seen at least three horses”, which made us slightly panic about ever making any money.

Nothing lasts forever, except a Thermatex

That’s the thing with Thermatex: if you take good care of them (don’t put them over sharp stirrups), the rugs really do last forever. Thankfully, there’s always room for another horse, another rug, a new gilet in a different colour and a fresh dog rug, so we hope we can ease our way back into your tack rooms, homes and wardrobes over time. We’ve got a new website up and running at www.thermatex.co.uk, and you will see our collection of current colours, as well as the option to choose your own binding colour should you prefer something a little different.

Still proudly Made in England

We are so excited to be back, and it feels like such a natural fit to what is already a bustling factory, producing Racesafe body protectors and Nuumed products too. In a world where there is so much greenwashing and false advertising of products being “Made in England”, we are very proud to be offering a product entirely made in the UK. And with everything made to order, it doesn’t really get more sustainable than that.
